a new place and environment..
no doubt that i have been moving around alot in less than 2 months..
not too sure whether its good or likewise..
from renal meds to operating theatre..
i like theatre and i thank God for answering to my prayers..
mak have been giving positive encouragement to me in accepting this change..
so is Izzad..
a drastic change of discipline..
like ive mentioned, dsot is a little relax compared to major ot where major and emergency surgeries are done..
the name tells it all..
i didnt get to do oncalls like in mot..
our cases sometimes lasted only 10 mins!! hehe..
and by 1330 or 1400 most of the time most surgeries are over..
so far, our Sister have posted me in the recovery room and i did some circulating task too..
for a start, we have to go through all the disciplines.. like, reception, scrub site, analgesia, recovery..
in scrub site..
the usual, we learnt all kinds of instruments.. even the funny ones..
for example, you know speculum.. we know it as speculum.. but out of that speculum, there are other instruments that look like speculum but, they have other names for it.. oh my!!
and there was once when i was doing circulating, i had to openup this sterile item.. it looked like a micropore tape, but trust me its not.. (see, i dont know the item's name that well yet) it ended up rolling on the floor just beside the surgeon's boots.. alamakk!! kecoh ah!
luckily the scrub nurse said, 'its ok.. just get a new one..' hehe..
in recovery..
a common thing i noticed is that..
at the initial stage of recovering from anesthesia, patients tend to scratch their face..
scratch is one thing..
restless is another..
and as for the paediatrics, they will SCREAM and CRY..
a new environment and new working colleagues..
and new learning experiences.. =)
as for my new preceptor, i guess ive met my the other half..
she is really making me alittle stress..
belum ape2 dah tanya pasal anatomy & phy of female reproductive system (thats becos i'll be in o & g after all my orientations are over)
its been a long time since i hold that bio book..
from the look on her face, i know she have high expectation on me..
i ended up here having higher expectation on myself..
next week, i'll be in the boat with 2 assessments to accomplish..
1. BCLS
2. Scrubs competency
my own learning topics..
1. scrubs techniques.. anything to do with the theatre world..
2. a & p
till then you all..
ahmad, i want to hear from you!!
how is that paeds icu doing..?
on a whole, i know Allah knows whats best for me..
reflected on my journey and past past entries, ive mentioned having interest in o & g (midwifery) and ot..
He have given me those..
alhamdulilah..
=)
i do not want to be stressed up about my career anymore..
i just want to be happy with whatever im doing..
afterall, the aim is to be an excellent & dedicated perioperative nurse =P
