what is wrong with a senior staff asking a junior staff about some things that he/she doesnt know?

nothing is wrong with that right..? its been a long time since i am very angry so please. i am an inch close to tell her, 'hey look. who does vascular more you or me?' but, boasting around will never solve the problem. i am not like some nurses who will comment, 'assist so many times still not sure.' in fact, if you or anyone doesnt know, i will guide you through whichever cases i am very familiar with. but, dont step pandai and get all the instruments messed up when i do not have time to explain the rationale. she told me, 'hey, why are you using the blood irrigation set? you this, the terumo one.' macam aku nak bagi je. i told her, 'i have no time to explain to you now why we use this instead of that. can you bring in the patient. we are all waiting.' 'no no no. tell me now why?' thank God my preceptor walked in and shouted, 'we are using the blood set.' otherwise, she can stand there and argue with me about this all day.

another one. 'if the surgeon calls for right angle forcep, please open for me the AV fistula set. i had it on the trolley. i went to tssu and gs cupboard. someone must have taken it.' she claimed, 'why must open the set? are you sure there isnt any?' 'well you can go and hunt for it for the second time.' i walked away. look who is accountable for the instruments? its me. who is going to assist the surgery, its me. why cant you just listen to me eventhough im your junior. btw, you are not that senior too. come on. dont make me angry now.

another one, 'Ifa, why are you cutting that?' 'they are done with it and i need to give you the veins.' 'no! dont cut. we need to sterilise it after using.' 'since when we sterilise the strippers? this is already into patient's veins and we charged patient for this. how can we sterilise this for the next patient??' at this point, my tolerance level have reached to the maximum. i feel like shouting, CAN SOMEBODY BRING HER OUT! this is what i mean. kalau tak tahu, jangan step pandai. dont point my mistakes when you cant even get your facts right.

another one, 'we will be using sanitary pad for dressing.' 'ive already given you gamgee.' 'ok nvm.' 'can i have opsite please.' 'ive already given you primapore.' i guess Dr Ben just couldnt take it and he said, 'we asked for opsite and you gave us primapore?'

another one, for AV fistula patients, its the protocol to check the blood pressure before the operation. if its too high, we may not proceed as this can endanger patient's life. patient's blood pressure is 220/86 mmHg. which idiot will still send for the case? she did and we had Dr Ben screaming, 'dont send. dont send.' luckily, i wasnt there otherwise i would have strangle her big time! come on this is AVF patients. they are very ill. their kidneys are not functioning. please dont get them into cardiac arrest. another thing, Dr Ben is one of my favourite surgeon. so please.

honestly, its alright for me if you're not sure and you ask. ASK!! even if you have done the cases many times but, you are hardly in theatre 6 and you will tend to forget how it is always done and i can understand that. i dont know about other nurses but, as for me, im cool about it. just ask. its not that difficult. she ended up showing faces to me for the rest of the day. not that i bother lah. come on. we are professionals. i dont fix this kind of petty issues. i may be a year old staff nurse. i may not be as knowledgeable as you. but, when i know some cases very well, i will not let you rule me just because im a junior nurse.

oh come on.

it hurts.

Be in good health first and foremost.. Weigh ermm at least a 40kg.. To do an adv diploma in nursing.. Be an excellent & dedicated perioperative nurse. I want to canoe & rock climbing someday.. To get married! Haha.. Not so soon still..
