torn into pieces, 9:09 PM

my thesis topic is on Jamaluddin al-Afghani. when Ust Fath gave this topic to me, i was like.. oh my! seriously, i do not know who he was. if i was given Bukhari or Muslim or Ibn Sina or Ibn Bathuthah. at least, my reaction would be... ooohh ok!

books after books, shelves after shelves, website after webiste, library after library, sms after sms (i kinda have this habit where i will ask people questions when i want an immediate ans), read line after line (sampai mata macam fill it the blank), i even had a map of the world with me as Al-Afghani travelled a few places and i ermm get lost as to where was he and at what year. BAM!!!

Al-Afghani is one of the most influential Muslims of the 20th century where some consider him as the principal figure in awakening Islamic political sentiments and social reforms in India, Persia, Afghanistan, Egypt and the Ottoman Empire. when you really read about his life, especially his journey to various countries, you will be thankful with his effort to "modernize" Islam and protect the Islamic world from the greed of foreigners. despite, the obstacles that Allah SWT test him, he never give up.

i am very touch and impressed by him. these got me thinking.. tanpa perjuangan Al-Afghani, umat Islam hari ini mungkin di dalam penjajahan Barat sepenuhnya dan tidak akan keluar daripada zaman Taklid. Masya'allah. my best part was when he had an intelectual dialogue with Ernest Renan in Paris, 1883. because of this, i read about the Russo Swedish war in 1788-1790 for fun. hehe. mana kerja aku tak habis2.

ive never like history subject especially when i had to study about the Thailand Kings. why do i want to learn how many wives and how many times you have parties in a month...? however, learning about Islamic history is very different. it boost my enthusiasm to learn more. it feels like learning where i come from.

being a good Muslim is one thing. being able to defend Muslims from oppression is another.

Be in good health first and foremost.. Weigh ermm at least a 40kg.. To do an adv diploma in nursing.. Be an excellent & dedicated perioperative nurse. I want to canoe & rock climbing someday.. To get married! Haha.. Not so soon still..
