torn into pieces, 12:55 AM

wahh! the weight right now is 38kg. =) i am one kind of person who loses weight VERY VERY easily but gaining weight takes forever. nonetheless, i kinda like being petite. although i hate when my jeans starts losing one by one.

my heartfelt for the trauma case i circulate last afternoon. and yes! day surgery assisting trauma cases now. the case was brought up straight from A&E because it is a P1 patient. okey. P1 here means..... in A&E, they have this triage system where they will categorise the urgency of the patients' condition accordingly. P1 means, patients that required STAT treatments.

well, i feel that it is good to accept such cases in day surgery. damn the adrenaline rush. hehe. whenever i get to be part of the team assisting this case, i feel ermm good! i am very grateful that i had at least a minimum orthopaedics experience because none of the nurses in the theatre is an ortho nurse. none!! when they asked for reduction forcep, none know what is reduction forcep and turned to me. thus, each time they asked for instruments that i did not standby, i ran out. if Winny was around, she would make a better circulating nurse though. we did the operation in a General Surgery theatre so, none of the ortho instruments are kept there. i only came into the theatre after Sister L came panicking telling me to help in theatre 2. by the time i came, i was like Ya Allah. apa dah jadi ni...?

the patient had a crushed on his foot. if i am not mistaken, the foot was hit by a heavy concrete. the crushed was so bad that i could see the bones berkecai in the xray and when they removed the bandage, this is the FIRST time ive seen the size of our metatarsal bones and phalanges. its so tiny and bare because there is neither any skin nor flesh surrounding it anymore! the case was a KIV amputation. i quickly whispered to Thim, 'eh! don't amputate lah. poor thing. i guess, he is not married and thats important.' 'married is important hur?' 'of course!' haha. because, first, i feel for the patient. amputation is a no joke business. second, i have to put up a loan chit to Mot to loan big saw and that would make me run more. heheh. however, all the time, they will revise the wound after a few days before they decide for amputation. hardly amputate on the first operation. thats what i observed.

through out my nursing path, there are a few group of patients that i really feel for. not that i dont appreciate all my patients. i feel for their misery too but, i have special attention to the renal patients (i was from renal meds ward and i know how they go through their ADLs), cancer patients, foreigner patients who come for trauma cases, the motorcyclists and the elderly.

nevertheless, good job everyone. =)

it hurts.
