Monday! the chaotic day. termination of pregnancy are usually done in 15 mins or 5 mins for some patients. however, today, we took 2 hours. why??

in a whole, 2 out of 3 TOP patients are problematic today. first patient is so damn tight. well, look at her age, you'll understand why. ive already given him a 6mm flexible currette but, it doesn't work that wonderful, still. we called the consultant in.

second patient was perforated. from the usually way of abortion, to ultrasound guided to LAPAROSCOPIC. from hold mask for analgesia to insertion of LMA. i am damn pissed because i have a handicap in my team. i am so tired of covering up for her. whenever i am with her, i am doing 2 person's job. if we have a strong and cooperative team, i am sure no matter how troubled we may get, we will NEVER drift apart. everything will still be in place.

i sounded the consultant that i dont keep a full O&G laparoscopic instruments here. what are the special instruments he needed. he claimed that GS lap inst will be sufficient. ok fine. we brought in the tv system and set up as per lap case. we got me more pissed when he asked for a 0 deg 10mm telescope and when i brought in, he said he wanted the 30 deg 10mm instead. the next thing, he needed the indwelling cath and when i came in with that, he said, he doesn't want it anymore. kan macam nak kena pang!! i had to do the running like i told you we have handicap. the next one he asked for was, i need a bipolar. i can't diathermised with this. he was half shouting at me. i really couldn't take it anymore.. i shouted back! 'I told you we do not have O&G laparoscopic instruments.' 'then how? how now? she is bleeding.' 'i call major ot. in the meantime, you have to use that.'

bila orang tanya what are the special instruments, busy talking and don't want to answer properly. bila dah gini nak pekik2. i don't understand this kinda surgeon. its been a long time since i shouted at anyone. memang padan muka dia kena pekik!! towards the end of the operation, he asked me when is Prof PC's case. '12! btw, its not Prof who is doing the case. its Dr Chew today.' 'why didnt you tell us??? we rushed you because we can't delay Prof's theatre.' 'you didn't ask what?? Prof is on leave. you should know.'

the big head on leave also don't know. aiyoh!

one handicap is enough. but, i got another stubborn nurse!! we had hand case after that. its standard at Prof Pho's cases, patient is on the table before he come and all the administrative matters, please call his assistant. i was busy preparing my trolley and told my counterpart to see to the pre-op checking. she so damn pandai come into the theatre and told Prof that patient is not here yet. the moment i heard that i JUMPED so did Aaron. both of us looked at her. of course Prof start questioning. so, i told Prof that we'll see to this and ushered her out. while walking to reception, i told her she can't say that to Prof and Aaron back me up. she couldn't accept what i said and said, 'but, patient isn't here yet. what can i do?' 'you can do lots of things. go to the day ward and get the patient in the theatre asap!' after i unscrubbed, i told her, 'you've got to work with Prof only then, you will know how particular Prof is. Prof will knock your hand with the artery if you don't concentrate in his surgery and if you give the wrong instruments.' ingat orang main2 ke.

ni semua belum kena. bila dah kena baru tahu.

i am no good and i am still learning just like others. however, being stubborn and refused to listen won't bring anyone to anywhere.

thats it for the day. looking at the new batches of nurses, i am just wondering why can't these nurses be like my batch nurses. not proud. not bragging. but, i can tell you, we are on our toes when comes to surgery. i was told by a senior one day, 'if i am in O&G theatre and there is Ifa, i am not afraid. if in dental, Azlina is around, i am not scared too. in hand or ortho, there is Winny and in GS, cystoscopy, TURP and all that, there is Sowmiya.'
whatever skills we obtain today are all hard work.

we're still learning though.

it hurts.

Be in good health first and foremost.. Weigh ermm at least a 40kg.. To do an adv diploma in nursing.. Be an excellent & dedicated perioperative nurse. I want to canoe & rock climbing someday.. To get married! Haha.. Not so soon still..
